Bricks & Minifigs North Shore MKE Celebrates 1 Year

Bricks and minifigs at Sprecher

Bricks & Minifigs North Shore MKE hosted “Brews and Minifigs” at Sprecher Brewery

When Bricks & Minifigs North Shore MKE opened its doors in Fox Point, it brought more than just LEGO bricks to the community—it introduced a hub for creativity, connection, and family fun. Over the past year, this locally owned store has become a space where builders of all ages come together to imagine, create, and share their passion for LEGO.

From hosting engaging events like Bricks & Brews with Sprecher Brewery to offering themed summer camps such as MiniWorlds and Galactic Builders, Bricks & Minifigs has consistently provided innovative experiences that delight both kids and adults. Their commitment to community is evident through partnerships with organizations like Gigi’s Playhouse and the Friendship Circle, as well as collaborations with local figures like Marquette Basketball’s Stevie Mitchell.

As they celebrate their one-year anniversary on Saturday, April 19, we connected with Wade Bosworth, co-owner of the store along with his wife Kim. Join us as we explore the story behind Bricks & Minifigs North Shore MKE and their vision for building an even more connected and creative community.

Bricks and Minifigs North Shore

What inspired you to open Bricks & Minifigs North Shore MKE?

We’ve always had a passion for creativity, community, and of course — LEGO! Bricks & Minifigs was the perfect opportunity to bring all of that together. We wanted to create a place where people of all ages could come together to build, play, and share their love of LEGO, whether they’re a casual fan, serious collector, or young builder just getting started. The North Shore needed a space like this, and we’re so proud to have brought it to life!

Can you share some highlights or memorable moments from your first year?

There are so many! From hosting our first Bricks & Brews event with Sprecher Brewery, to watching kids proudly show off their MOCs at our summer camps, every week brought something special. A favorite memory was seeing a 4-year-old win one of our contests — she thought her build was “too simple” to win, but it brought joy to her entire family (including her big brother who didn’t even win, but was so excited for her). Those are the moments that make everything worth it.

Are there any partnerships or collaborations you're particularly proud of?

Definitely! A portion of our Grand Opening sales were donated to the awesome work being done at Gigi’s Playhouse. Our first May the 4th celebration had visitors from the 501st Legion Wisconsin Garrison interacting with customers and making the experience memorable. Collaborating with Sprecher Brewery on Bricks & Brews was a blast — bringing fans of LEGO together in a fun and unexpected setting. We’ve also had the honor of working with Marquette Basketball’s Stevie Mitchell, hosting a meet & greet and custom build giveaway that brought together sports fans and LEGO lovers alike. We partnered with Friendship Circle to offer building workshop for adults.

What exciting plans or new offerings are on the horizon for Bricks & Minifigs North Shore MKE?
We’re expanding our summer camp lineup, including themes like Miniworlds, Galactic Builders, and Stop-Motion Animation, with some awesome new curriculum. We’re also introducing more adult-focused events, AFOL nights, and some surprise make & take experiences. And we’ve got a few secret builds in the works that we can’t wait to unveil .

Is there a personal story or anecdote that encapsulates the spirit of your store?
One moment that always sticks with us: a parent once told us, “My child never wants to leave your store — this is their happy place.” That comment, simple as it was, reminded us exactly why we do what we do. It’s not just about selling LEGO — it’s about creating a space where people feel seen, inspired, and excited to come back again and again.

How do you envision the store evolving in the coming years?
We’re always listening to our customers and community. In the years ahead, we’d love to grow into supporting more community events, offer more unique builds (like we did with the Milwaukee Art Museum), and continue to provide outstanding customer service that helped us win the New Business of the Year in 2024 by the North Shore Chamber of Commerce. We want Bricks & Minifigs North Shore MKE to be a true hub for creativity, whether you’re trading minifigs, attending a class, or collaborating on a custom piece.

Bricks and minifigs business of the year

What message would you like to share with your loyal customers and the community?
Thank you. Thank you for supporting us, for spreading the word, for building alongside us, and for making this first year better than we ever imagined. Every visit, every trade, every brick placed — it all adds up to something bigger than we could’ve dreamed. We truly couldn’t do this without you, and we’re beyond grateful.

Anything else to add?
We’re just getting started. There’s so much more to build — literally and figuratively — and we can’t wait to keep growing with this amazing community. If you haven’t stopped by yet, come say hi! If you’re a regular, we can’t wait to surprise you with what’s next. Help us grow by following us on social media, commenting on posts, and sharing with others.
