This program is filled with sustainable and environmentally friendly activities, designed for participants of all ages.

Looking for a family-friendly adventure that’s good for the planet and packed with meaningful activities? The Village of Bayside’s Passport to Sustainability is a creative, community-wide initiative designed to get families outside, learning, exploring, and making a difference—one eco-friendly step at a time.

The Passport program makes sustainable living approachable and rewarding. Families can earn points by completing a wide range of environmentally focused activities—everything from adopting a storm drain to geocaching at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center.

Each activity comes with a point value, and as you complete more challenges, you move up passport tiers—Bronze (10 points), Silver (20), Gold (35), and Platinum (50). Even better? There’s no deadline, and new activities are added throughout the year, making this a long-term invitation to build sustainable habits.

A Sample of What You Can Do:

  • 🌳 Adopt a Village Tree and help grow Bayside’s tree canopy

  • 🚴‍♀️ Bike Around Bayside (bonus points if you find the hidden repair station!)

  • 🗺️ Join a nature-themed scavenger hunt at Ellsworth Park

  • 🌼 Skip the mower in May to support pollinators in “No Mow May”

  • 🧪 Attend Water School 101 and learn how stormwater impacts our environment

  • ♻️ Volunteer at Bayside Clean Up Day or drop off recyclables at special events

  • 🌞 Install solar panels or green infrastructure at home and be rewarded for big steps

Kids can get involved with coloring and activity pages, and families can track their progress through a digital platform. It’s a blend of education, outdoor fun, and real-world impact—all while working together toward a cleaner, greener North Shore.

To get started, create a Passport account here, and begin earning points for your green adventures.

Whether you’re walking the Tennyson Trail, planting a rain garden, or spotting butterflies in the park, every step counts toward a healthier future—and this passport just might be the most fun way to get there.

North Shore Family Adventures

North Shore Family Adventures was created by a dad to two (one boy, one girl), who is always looking for entertainment and activities in all season for his kids. His favorite area hike is Lion’s Den Gorge and favorite biking path is the Oak Leaf Trail. Come explore with us.
