Upgrades Coming to Cahill Park
Proposed upgrades to Cahill Park in Whitefish Bay
UPDATE! The project has begun and during construction activities the Cahill Playground will be temporarily closed until the project is complete in late spring/early summer 2025 (weather pending).
Whitefish Bay families can look forward to a major upgrade to Cahill Park in the coming year, with new state-of-the-art equipment.
Key components of the updates include:
The BCI Burke Play That Moves You system featuring a Nucleus Modular Structure designed for ages 5-12 (see video below)
Multiple decks, slides, climbers, and balance activities, as well as interactive features like the Burke Mart Panel, Tic Tac Toe, Crazy Maze, and accessible reach panels
Independent play events such as the Volta Inclusive Spinner, Nido Spinner, and a playful Train Engine with Cargo Car are planned
Previously, Whitefish Bay residents voted on what equipment they would like to see at the playground.
The playground surfacing will combine Playbound Poured-in-Place Surfacing and Engineered Wood Fiber to ensure maximum safety and accessibility. There's also an option to include a RopeVenture Epic Structure, offering even more adventurous play opportunities.
These updates at Cahill Park are part of a broader village effort to beautify local parks, increase pedestrian and bicycle safety, and ensure shared spaces serve families well for years to come.
The Whitefish Bay Village Board will discuss and take action on the purchase of playground equipment, surfacing, and installation during their March 17 meeting. Assuming approval, the community can look forward to seeing these exciting improvements at Cahill Park take shape.
Previously, the Cahill Park tennis courts resurfacing project was completed in 2021. The resurfacing project will grant another 8 to 10 years of usable life to the courts. The courts are open to the public when not in use by the School District, Recreation Department, or Whitefish Bay Tennis Club.
