As the weather starts to warm up, nothing beats grabbing a drink or a bite to eat outdoors with family and friends. If you love patios, you’ll be happy to hear that several Shorewood restaurants, bars, coffee shops and other establishments applied for outdoor seating permits in March 2025 —bringing opportunities for fresh air, good food, and community gathering spaces.

At an upcoming Village Board meeting, local favorites have applied for special privileges to use outdoor seating areas within the public right-of-way. Here’s a look at what’s in the works and how it could enhance the Shorewood bar and restaurant scene.

Several Shorewood restaurants and cafés have submitted proposals for outdoor seating extensions, including:

Love Cafe (3801 N. Oakland Ave.) – A cozy neighborhood café known for its fresh pastries, locally sourced ingredients, and inviting atmosphere.

Brat House Shorewood (4022 N. Oakland Ave.) – A staple for beer garden vibes, Brat House also features parklet seating.

Metro Market (4075 N. Oakland Ave.) – The Shorewood grocery store has a space for quick bites and coffee breaks outdoors.

Stone Creek Coffee (4106 N. Oakland Ave.) – One of Shorewood’s most popular coffee spots features a sidewalk café area

MOD Pizza (4151 N. Oakland Ave.) – A family favorite for customizable pizzas, MOD’s outdoor seating adds to its appeal as a casual, kid-friendly dining option with room to enjoy a meal outside.

Fiddleheads Coffee (4334 N. Oakland Ave.) – Another local favorite for coffee lovers, Fiddleheads has sidewalk seating, offering more space for those who love to sip and stay a while.

North Shore Boulangerie (4401 N. Oakland Ave.) – This beloved French-inspired bakery is a go-to for croissants and cappuccinos.

Draft and Vessel (4417 N. Oakland Ave.) – This craft beer hub has a parklet space, creating a European-style outdoor beer garden feel.

Cloud Red (4488 N. Oakland Ave.) – A hotspot for craft cocktails and creative small plates, Cloud Red’s outdoor dining space makes it an even better option for a night out

Colectivo Coffee (4500 N. Oakland Ave.) – One of the most popular outdoor coffee spots in Shorewood.
