Fox Point Pool: What’s Next?

A potential future for the next Fox Point Pool

If you've driven past the Fox Point Municipal Pool recently, you may have noticed the growing piles of dirt in the parking lot. These piles mark the beginning of a major transformation—one that will ultimately lead to the removal of the long-standing aquatics facility and pave the way for potential future improvements.

The Fox Point Municipal Pool, which originally opened in 1968, has faced increasing maintenance challenges over the years. Numerous engineering studies have documented the facility’s aging infrastructure, and in 2023, the pool was forced to close due to extensive mechanical failures and safety concerns. Efforts were made to salvage the facility, but critical components, including main pool valves and outdated heating systems, were no longer viable for repair.

With these challenges in mind, the Village Board approved the removal of the aquatics facility as part of the 2025 capital budget. In March 2025, the demolition contract was awarded, and the official removal process is set to begin on April 1, 2025.

The first phase of work will focus on tearing down the existing structures, filling in the site, and smoothing out the landscape. The goal is to create a site cleared and stabilized area that can remain safe and accessible while plans for a new facility take shape.

This means that for now, there will be no immediate construction of a new pool. Instead, the community must wait for the next step: fundraising.

The Path to a New Pool

The Friends of the Fox Point Pool, a community group dedicated to revitalizing the aquatics facility, is leading the charge in securing the necessary funds. In order for a new pool to be built, 50% of the estimated cost must be raised through private donations before construction can begin.

For those eager to see a new pool in Fox Point, this is your chance to make a difference. Community support will play a crucial role in determining the future of aquatics in the area.

While the removal of the old pool marks the end of an era, it also presents an opportunity to envision something new. Whether it’s a modernized aquatic center, a multi-use recreational space, or another community-driven solution, the next steps will depend on residents, donors, and local leadership working together.

Stay tuned for updates as the site transformation begins. To learn more or contribute to the fundraising effort, visit www.friendsoffoxpointpool.org.
